2022 Summer Camp-At-Home (Aug. 9-11)

Camp-at-home, hosted Aug. 9-11, is for children and teens aged 7-17 who could not attend one of our in-person summer sessions or did participate would like another camp experience. The program will feature game-themed events, camp clubs with special guests, camp-in-a-box experiences, and–best of all!–chance to connect with friends. Below are details about the “S’more Camp Clubs” offered by our community partners on Thursday, Aug. 11.

S’more Camp Clubs Date: Thursday, Aug. 11

Where: Hosted on Zoom.

Who: Medically eligible campers and their siblings. Registration is required. Visit our Apply to Summer Camp-At-Home page to learn more.

S’more Camp Clubs Hosted Aug. 11

2:00-3:00 PM (EST): Learn, Do & Explore

Join Detroit PBS KIDS and the Michigan Learning Channel staff for an exciting and unexpected hands-on exploration. Supplies needed (provided in your camp-at-home box): White and black clay packets and a toothpick, as well as a pen or pencil and paper.

3:30-4:30 PM (EST): Spinning Dot Theatre

Hosted by Ann Arbor-based Spinning Dot Theater, campers will dive into a range of adventurous theater games. Supplies needed (provided in your camp-at-home box): Color scarf, rubber band, long wooden stick.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS: With the 2022 Swim to the

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS: With the 2022 Swim to the Moon, an extraordinary open-water swim race hosted by @epicraces, just 12 days away, there are some amazing volunteer opportunities still available, including being a part of our 'Kayak Patrol' team on Sunday, Aug. 21.

You will help participants stay on course throughout the race (you must be 18 or older; we can provide your kayak). Part of our team will launch from camp's Patterson Lake beachfront at sunrise—all around, a pretty spectacular morning and your support helps an important fundraising for camp!

As we reflect back, we are looking forward to sharing inspirational stories from our camper families, seasonal staff, and volunteers about their summer at North Star Reach. "Reflecting back on this summer it's like we never missed a beat! It was amazing seeing campers reconnect and pick up right where they left off! My favorite part of the summer was watching campers be very shy and timid entering the week and by closing campfire, they were open and performing alone on stage."

Looking for S'more Camp fun this summer? Campers (aged 7-17) are invited to join us for our upcoming Camp-at-Home program, hosted online Aug. 9-11. This is a great opportunity for campers who could not attend one of our in-person summer sessions or did participate and would like another camp experience.

The online program features a terrific lineup of real-time camp clubs with community guests, Solar Adventure Challenges, camp-in-a-box supplies, cabin chats, and more.
