Coping with Loss Conference Recorded Talks

This half-day conference brought together parents, psychologists, social workers, and health care professionals for talks focused on how to cope with significant life losses.

Below, you will find recordings and handouts from the conference. We have also created a General Resource List (download PDF) with additional information provided by our presenters. Please note that the presentations and handouts represent the views and opinions of the original creators and should not be a substitute for professional advice.

This conference would not have been possible without our wonderful presenters. Special thanks to Ele’s Place Ann Arbor, Arbor Hospice, Michigan Medicine, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for support of our event. Thank you for joining us in recognizing the importance of grief and for helping us all to hold a space to help one another navigate the difficult journey of processing life-changing losses.

Some reflections on the conference:

  • “The speakers provided tools, resources, and insight on the journey of grief and how to support yourself and your loved ones. It was a wonderful program.” – Kelly Wiseman, MSBS, PA-C, Akron Children’s Hospital.
  • “This conference taught me that grief is something we move forward with, instead of moving on from.” – Megan Carrillo, Student, Michigan State University
  • “I appreciated the way you brought grieving parents-turned professionals to present to us. Parents are so often our best teachers.” –  Linda Nelson, LMSW. Pediatric Hospice Social Worker Beaumont PATCH Program
